Victor Ruz has criticised an unnamed Ugandan media house over what he described as one of the most disrespectful experiences he has faced in his music career.
Speaking on a podcast, Victor Ruz said he was invited for a musical interview but was surprised when the media house played songs by other artistes throughout the programme without playing any of his music.
“It was a musical interview. They played every other artiste’s songs while I’m on set except my songs,” he said.
The singer added that the situation was even more disappointing because some of the presenters at the media house are his friends, and he has previously shared moments with them and received awards from the same platform.
“Some of the presenters are my friends and we have been together, won some awards from them, but that was too disrespectful and I hate it. It’s the worst thing I have ever experienced in the music industry,” Victor Ruz said.
Although he did not reveal the name of the media house, Victor Ruz said he hopes no other artiste experiences a similar situation.
He admitted that he was tempted to react immediately but chose not to cause a scene, noting that the incident could have easily ended up on social media.
“If I was someone who reacts right away, I was going to cause a scene. It would have surfaced on social media and trended because you can’t give me a programme to come and you fail to play a single song from my catalogue of five to six hits,” he said.
Victor Ruz has not identified the media house or the presenters involved.
