General Muhoozi Kainerugaba has called for calm following growing tensions between musician Bebe Cool and members of Uganda’s music and media sectors over alleged unpaid campaign money.
In a post on X, Muhoozi revealed that Bebe Cool had contacted him about recent attacks from some of their comrades in the music and media industries, urging them to stop attacking the singer.
“My brother @BebeCoolUG called me this morning and told me they are some comrades of ours in the music and media sectors who have been attacking him recently. Please do not attack my young brother. Whatever issues they are we shall manage peacefully,” Muhoozi tweeted.
The General’s message comes shortly after a group of Ugandan TikTok creators and bloggers, including Sky Solja and Jobless Billionaire, reportedly headed to Bebe Cool’s residence in Kiwatule, Kampala, demanding payment for work they say remains unpaid from the recent presidential campaign.
The content creators were reportedly among influencers who moved with Bebe Cool across different parts of Uganda during campaign activities. Their reported visit to his home adds to the growing pressure on the singer to address complaints over payments owed to individuals who participated in the campaign.
The unpaid campaign money controversy has also involved other figures in Uganda’s entertainment industry. Rapper Gravity Omutujju previously claimed that Bebe Cool owed him approximately Shs400 million for campaign performances.
Gravity alleged that he had received about Shs100 million out of an agreed Shs500 million for performances at various rallies, with individual appearances reportedly costing around Shs4 million.
Other artists, including Buchaman, have also raised complaints over unpaid campaign-related fees.
Bebe Cool’s camp, including his son and manager, has previously explained that payment delays were linked to pending funds from the NRM Secretariat. They urged those with payment disputes to pursue legal channels rather than handling the matter through social media, while asking for patience.
Bebe Cool has also acknowledged delays in some statements and indicated that clarity on the outstanding payments was expected soon.
With Muhoozi now calling for a peaceful resolution, attention turns to whether the ongoing disputes between Bebe Cool and the artists, bloggers, and content creators involved in the campaign can be resolved.
