Uganda’s Road to Miss Universe Begins with a New Generation of Women, Including Mitchelle Daka

This year marks a defining moment in Uganda’s history as the country officially joins the Miss Universe platform for the very first time during the organization’s landmark 75th edition celebration.

For more than seven decades, Miss Universe has been recognized as the most prestigious and influential pageant platform in the world, producing global icons, leaders, entrepreneurs, advocates, and changemakers. The platform has evolved far beyond beauty, becoming a space where women are celebrated for their intelligence, confidence, leadership, and ability to create meaningful impact in their communities and beyond.

Uganda’s debut is therefore about much more than crowning a queen. It is about giving Ugandan women a place on one of the world’s biggest stages, creating international opportunities, and showcasing the country’s culture, talent, beauty, and ambition to a global audience. As Miss Universe celebrates its 75th edition, Uganda joins a legacy that has inspired generations of women around the world, making this an especially significant moment for the country.

Leading the Movement

At the helm of this historic journey is National Director Joram Muzira Job, one of Uganda’s most respected figures in fashion, modeling, and pageantry.

Known for discovering and developing world-class talent, Joram has dedicated his career to creating opportunities for young people in Uganda. His experience, vision, and passion for excellence have made him the perfect person to lead Uganda’s first-ever Miss Universe chapter.

The National Casting

The journey began with the National Casting, where contestants from across the country appeared before a judging panel consisting of Joram Muzira Job, Rachel K, and Natasha Sinobi Bunyoni.

While the initial plan was to select a Top 30, a last-minute decision saw the number reduced to 25. Joram’s vision was clear: to focus on a smaller group of women he genuinely believed in—contestants with the potential, commitment, and drive to make the most of this opportunity.

Among the 25 women selected to continue the journey is Michelle Daka, an entrepreneur and advocate whose international experience brings a unique perspective to the competition. Having lived, worked, and traveled across multiple countries, she joins the inaugural Miss Universe Uganda class with a global outlook and a strong understanding of diverse cultures and communities. Known for her confidence, poise, and ability to connect with people from all walks of life, Michelle represents the caliber of women Uganda hopes to showcase on the international stage. Alongside her fellow contestants, she is helping to shape Uganda’s first chapter in the Miss Universe legacy.

Boot Camp

The Top 25 contestants then entered Boot Camp, where they began an intensive period of training and personal development.

From runway training and public speaking to personal branding, confidence building, and stage presence, the contestants have been challenged to grow in every area required of a modern Miss Universe representative. They are learning how to communicate with confidence, command a room, and represent Uganda with pride on the international stage.

Looking Ahead

As the competition continues, the contestants are not only competing for a crown but also preparing to become ambassadors for Uganda.

The journey has only just begun, but one thing is already certain: Uganda’s first participation in Miss Universe is a historic milestone, and the women taking part are helping to shape a new chapter for the country on the global stage.
