Singer Mimi Kampala has dismissed speculation that she is romantically involved with fellow dancehall artist Kapeke, insisting that the two are simply good friends.
The rumours appear to have been fuelled by their frequent interactions, including occasions when Kapeke has been seen at Mimi Kampala’s home. However, speaking in an interview with Galaxy TV, the songstress explained that there is nothing romantic between them.
According to Mimi Kampala, she enjoys hosting friends at her home and often cooks for them, which explains Kapeke’s presence at her place.
“Kapeke is just my good friend. I enjoy inviting people to my place because I like cooking. I’m a good cook. Kapeke is only a friend; stop expecting anything more. Stop looking at things romantically.”
The singer also made it clear that she is currently not interested in pursuing a romantic relationship, saying her attention is firmly on building her music career.
Mimi Kampala explained that she believes getting into a relationship at this stage could affect the level of focus she wants to dedicate to her music.
“I don’t have a boyfriend because I am so focused on my career. I can’t add love and relationships to music now, I may not be as focused. I will give relationships a chance in 2036.”
For now, Mimi Kampala says her priorities remain centred on music, while her relationship with Kapeke remains strictly one of friendship.
